The Midwest Stand Up Paddle Festival is a sure bet for family fun. Entry is FREE*. Here are all the things you can do at this event!
*SUP Yoga World Record attempt participation and all land-based clinics are free. Varying fees apply to water-based clinics.

4. Want to try SUP Yoga? This is the time to do it!
5. Been paddling for a little while and want to try your hand at our 2 mile fun race? You will have a blast!
6. Want to try all the latest 2014 gear? This is the place!
7. Spectate….or participate in our 6 mile race. (pre-registration required for racers)

The Festival site location is Brittingham Boats, 701 W. Brittingham Place, downtown Madison! Located on a bay just off Lake Monona with easy water access.

4:30-6:30pm Improve your racing performance with Chase Kosterlitz, SUPAA president and internationally ranked racer. Cost: $75
The Race Clinic with Chase Kosterlitz will cover everything you need to know to become a more efficient and faster stand up paddle competitor. This clinic is great whether you are looking to win the race or simply finish! Paddling is all about efficiency and getting the most out of the work you put in. Don't waste another race or training session doing the wrong thing! Chase is the #10 rated racer worldwide by www.SUPracer.com
The Race Clinic will cover:
* Stroke technique and video analysis
* Race Strategy: Race smart not harder!
* Turning technique for bouy courses
* Pacing and heart rate training information
* Choosing the right equipment for racing: Boards, paddle, gear and more!
* Diet for increased performance
4:30-6:30pm Quickblade Paddle Stroke Perfection Clinic with mad scientist Jim Terrell owner of Quickblade paddles. Develop your winning stroke at a very special hands-on workshop presented by 4 time Olympic champion Jim Terrell. Includes Paddle stroke theory - dry land session featuring full explanation of theory behind effective paddling. Water session in which Jim will work with participants as a group addressing issues with each individual. Useful technique drills and exercises in group session. Question and answer.
Limit 15 people Cost:$100. A limited number of 12'6" or 14' boards will be available for rent. $25 for the clinic.

11:30am Understanding why your fin is a critical part of your SUP board. Meet Futures fin owner Kevin Krohn and be part of an open discussion about fin design, materials, shapes and what they mean for your paddling. You'll have the opportunity to ask questions and drive the discussion to areas of interest.
11:30am Expedition Paddling BIC SUP Ambassador Mike Simpson's specialty is expedition SUP paddling. Best known for his epic 2,000+ mile trip up the eastern seaboard from Key West to Maine, Mike recently completed the journey around Puerto Rico. SUP Magazine was there to cover the trip (check out the summer "Gear Guide" issue for the full article on the trip) as was Facing Waves, the only broadcast paddlesports TV show in the United States (which airs on NBC Universal Sports and Outside Television). Join Mike at the Midwest SUP Festival as he tells stories from his adventures and also provides insight into expedition paddling to help you get started on your own adventures.

Danny is one of the nicest and most capable paddlers out there, a great ambassador for our sport. He is also an amazing paddler and in this clinic you will gain valuable knowledge about improving your stroke. This will be an on the water clinic.
12:30pm Understanding SUP Design from surfing to all round to race models with Blk Box Surf owner and designer Matt Campbell. In this open session you'll have the opportunity to ask any questions and drive the discussion to areas of interest.
1:30pm Mastering Buoy Turns with Paddleboard Specialists head instructor Evan Stone
You've been watching others do it long enough…it's fun and easy to learn! Evan will take you through the step by step process to learn and perfect buoy turns in this 45 minute clinic.

TRX Rip Training utilizes a lever bar and resistance cord to provide a unique mix of core stability, mobility and coordination challenges. Perfect for anyone from fitness enthusiasts to elite athletes, the Rip Trainer enhances fluidity and range of motion and decreases the risk of injury. Join Kari Woodall—whose athletic and coaching experience include five U.S. National Swimming Team selections and eleven years as an NCAA Division I Swimming Coach—for a Rip workout that combines high-speed striking movements and slower speed strength and stability exercises. Since retiring from NCAA coaching, Kari launched Woodall Training, LLC. She focuses on athletic-based personal training in and out of the water.

2:30pm Fitness Foundations and Understanding the Body Mechanics of SUP with Mona Melms of Studio Melt
Hosted by Mona Melms RN MS PT, co-owner/founding director of Melt, LLC & SUP enthusiast. Dedicating five minutes to your own movement machinery before and after your day of paddling will provide you with noticeable benefits in your paddling performance. Mona will demonstrate how a SUP warm-up routine activates the nerves and muscles involved in paddling and prepares them to go to work as a well-functioning team of body parts. A post-SUP routine aims at balancing the effects of repetitive paddling movement to maximize peak performance.
